Student Success Statement A Choice: Poverty or Prosperity " I hate poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that (poverty). It depends upon how hard I want to work, and i decided that i would change it."- Dr Ben Carson What this means  is that you have to make a choice and make your self be successful at life because no one will do it for you you will have to live your life.For example in Dr Ben's life when he was small he was a nobody he thought he was cool because he behaved bad. He watched TV all day long. His mother was  a house keep she didn't rely on food stamps( government money) so she worked hard.
